(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In Amazon’s latest effort to include Asia in its cloud computing platform (aws.amazon.com), Amazon Web Services technology evangelist Jinesh Varia will be embarking on a journey through Asia, meeting with system integrators, independent software vendors, enterprise architects, entrepreneurs, and anyone else who would like to learn more about AWS.
The workshops are scheduled for October 24 in Beijing (in conjunction with the CSDN conference), November 4 in Bangalore (in conjunction with the local Business Technology Summit), and November 10 in Chennai (in conjunction with an AWS Chennai Enthusiasts group meeting), according to Varia’s Monday blog post.
“I will be in China and India starting next week,” he wrote. “Apart from other meetings and presentations to user group, this time, I will be taking up 3-hour workshops. These workshops are targeted at architects and technical decision makers and attendees will get a chance to play with core AWS infrastructure services.”
The workshops will include a quick introduction to Amazon’s infrastructure services covering the creation of an AWS account, the use of SOAP, REST and Query APIs, as well as tools like the AWS management console. This is followed by an hour-long talk on the use of Amazon’s EC2, S3, CloudFront, SQS queues, and SimpleDB, and MapReduce, including exercises to help participants learn how to architect a web application in the cloud.
Varia will also cover topics in cloud architecture best practices, and migrating existing applications to the cloud using various examples, scenarios and use cases.
Seats are limited and prior registration is required. Participants will also require a laptop and would be best to have a background knowledge of Java programming.
Varia had previously gone on a web services evangelism trip to India in 2007, and then a round-trip around the world in 2008 that stopped in Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata in India, and continued to Sapporo and Tokyo in Japan.
