(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Telecommunications provider Alpheus Communications (www.alpheuscommunications.com) announced on Tuesday it has acquired a major fiber ring in North and West Harris County of Houston.
The fiber ring expands on Alpheus’ Houston footprint in the high tech FM249 area, adding to the Energy Corridor and being adjacent to major wireless tower sites.
Alpheus CEO Paul Hobby says it decided to invest in the fiber ring after realizing the increasing importance of the new geographies in relation to the regional economy.
Within the past 12 months, Alpheus has completed many fiber sales transactions with enterprise and carrier customers in Texas.
As the demand for bandwidth continues to rise, increasing the need for 3G and 4G cellular networks, dark fiber has become more crucial than ever.
Alpheus Communications provides long-haul telecommunications transport services in metro markets across Texas.
In addition to offering a broadband backbone network that travels from Wichita Falls to the Rio Grande Valley, the company also offers gigabit Ethernet, metro transport, managed wavelength, colocation services, and point-to-point private line services.
Alpheus’ services targets telecom carriers and enterprise customers in the banking, energy, health care, IT, and legal sectors.
