Allegiance Telecom Appoints Director

January 28, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Communications provider Allegiance Telecom (ALGX.com) announced on Tuesday that it has appointed retired president and founder of Bell Atlantic’s wholesale business, Jacob J. Goldberg, to its board of directors.

Goldberg, says Allegiance, was responsible for the commercialization of Bell Atlantic’s wholesale interconnection and resale business, as well as its growth into a division with revenues of more than $1 billion, serving two million customer lines. Prior to that, Goldberg served as senior vice president of strategy and business development and president of telecom services at Bell Atlantic.

With a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in electrophysics, says Allegiance, Goldberg is also a licensed professional engineer in New York and Massachusetts. He currently serves on the advisory board of CellPay Ltd. and the board of directors at InfoHighway Communications Corporation, Inc.
