March 22, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Alebra Technologies (alebra.com), a developer of software and managed services, introduced the latest version of its Parallel Data Mover (PDM) product last week. According to Alebra, PDM is used to support data warehousing applications, particularly in multi-vendor environments with large data movement requirements. The latest version, Parallel Data Mover 3.1, supports sharing of data between z/OS (OS/390) and open-based servers, as well as between MVS (multiple virtual system) systems.
“The increased functionality provided by this release is exciting and significant, including MVS-MVS data transfer, efficient block movement, the ability to execute processes, programs and jobs on other nodes and get the results back to the source, symbol substitution, a new easier-to-use client interface, enhanced support for VSAMand PDS, and automatic restart,” said Bill Yeager, PDM’s author and principal architect at Alebra’s Atlanta development and support center.
PDM is deployed by Fidelity Investments and Inovant, the technology arm of Visa.
