Application developer Alagad announced this week that it has partnered with Adobe to make it possible for users to deploy ColdFusion 9 on Amazon EC2.
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Internet application developer and Adobe software partner Alagad (www.alagad.com) announced today that it has partnered with software giant Adobe Systems to help develop a cloud-based implementation of its ColdFusion 9 web development software.
The project is intended to make it possible for customers to “rapidly deploy and test ColdFusion 9 without installing or configuring the software on-premise,” using Amazon’s EC2 cloud hosting product on the back-end.
Version 9 of Adobe’s ColdFusion web application server – a bit of a niche product in the hosting business, with some hosting providers making a point of focusing on the ColdFusion development community – was released this week. The new development environment for ColdFusion was brought into a second public beta at that time.
On Monday, the WHIR reported on Hosting.com’s announcement that it is offering support for ColdFusion 9 in a beta hosting environment.
Alagad says its team worked with Adobe to create a private beta of ColdFusion 9 that can be quickly deployed using EC2. The company says it created an Amazon Machine Image of ColdFusion 9, containing application libraries, data and configuration settings.
The product is currently undergoing testing. Once verified and registered by Adobe, says Alagad, the AMI will make it possible for users to deploy a full version of ColdFusion 9 via Amazon EC2.
Improvements in the new version of ColdFusion include a focus on productivity, enterprise integration and workflow with Adobe Flash Buidler, Adobe AIR and AJAX.
“Alagad’s knowledge of ColdFusion and the EC2 platform was a significant benefit as we developed our Cloud-based strategy,” said Adam Lehman, product manager of ColdFusion at Adobe, quoted in Alagad’s press release. “This collaboration has helped us deliver ColdFusion 9 in the Cloud, which offers the same benefits as an on-premise ColdFusion solution, while reducing investment in IT capital and time.”
Access to discussion groups and developer communities related to ColdFusion 9 are available through the product’s section on the Adobe website.
