February 2, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Content delivery network operator Akamai Technologies (akamai.com) announced on Wednesday that it achieved a 100 percent increase in total software downloads in 2004. The company said the jump was the result of an increasing numbers of customers adopting the Akamai Electronic Software Delivery platform.
Akamai said its software delivery customers include companies from a wide range of vertical industries that are building their business models on the “software as a service” delivery model.
