April 26, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Akamai Technologies (akamai.com), a provider of distributed computing solutions and services, and Scene7 (scene7.com), a developer of visual media software, announced on Monday that they are partnering to offer Dynamic Imaging on Demand (DIOD), a hosted imaging solution that automates image organization, preparation and publishing to Web sites. The solution will be delivered over Akamai’s globally distributed platform of over 14,000 servers.
“Combining robust content transformation with an on-demand delivery platform enables customers to offer a dynamic means of enhancing the online commerce experience,” says Robert Hughes, vice president of global sales and services at Akamai. “When online retailers, for example, tap into Akamai’s on-demand computing infrastructure in support of their commerce applications, results have shown measurable increases to conversion rates. Akamai and Scene7 customers will be able to quickly achieve a positive return on investment as this turnkey solution requires no investment in hardware or software, and no IT resources to get started.”
DIOD, the companies said, can help increase revenues, streamline Web image publishing and minimize upfront capital investments.
