April 4, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Akamai (akami.com) Technologies abruptly canceled a contract on Wednesday to provide Web hosting for Arabic news network Al-Jazeera’s Web site.
Employees at Al-Jazeera’s headquarters in Doha, Qatar, reportedly were frustrated by the decision. The company declined to elaborate on the reasons.
Akamai would confirm only that it would no longer do business with Al-Jazeera.
