AIT Goes Offline After Core Router Failure

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Advanced Internet Technologies (www.ait.com) went offline for a large part of Tuesday after experiencing a “catastrophic core router failure,” said an AIT spokesman Tuesday.

The company sent out an email to customers acknowledging that the company’s website, email servers, FTP services and hosted sites were all unavailable.

The email read: “We are currently working with Cisco Engineers to return service to operational status. We should have services returned shortly to you. If you need to contact AIT Customer Support, please call our direct line at 910-321-1300.”

The company’s “system status page” offers a similar disclaimer, and also mentions that AIT is “currently working to complete emergency maintenance that had to be performed on our ticket and billing systems this weekend.”

Meanwhile, many customers have voiced their concerns on microblogging community Twitter, with some users saying that they have not been able to receive service for more than six hours.
