(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Website measurement firm Actual Metrics (www.actualmetrics.com) has acquired the Urchin Software division of analytics and optimization provider EpikOne (www.epikone.com).
The purchase solidifies Actual Metrics’ position as the leading provider of training, consulting and support services for Urchin Software, According to the company’s Tuesday announcement at HostingCon in Washington DC. Actual Metrics specializes in high-traffic environments for Urchin and also offers remote management, API development, and managed Urchin hosting services.
“As one of Google’s original Urchin resellers, Actual Metrics has provided superior expertise for Urchin Software since our inception,” Actual Metrics chief executive officer Mike Chipman said. “The acquisition makes sense for both companies as it allows each to focus on core strengths. EpikOne has built an impressive customer list over the years and we are honored to have the opportunity to assist these customers.”
Acquired in 2005 by Google, Urchin Software provides web analytics and marketing intelligence for millions of websites worldwide, offering enterprise-level features at a modest price point, and is the foundation of Google Analytics.
Just two months ago, with the launch of Urchin 6.6, Actual Metrics unveiled “Urchin Tools,” an online portal for Urchin information.
As part of the purchase terms, Actual Metrics will acquire various web properties from EpikOne and provide support services for active support plans. Future sales of Urchin Software, support plans, training classes, and consulting projects will be handled by Actual Metrics.
