July 20, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Domain registrar DirectI (directi.com) announced on Tuesday that it had been accredited to accept registrations for .travel, a top-level domain for the travel and tourism related organizations.

 

DirectI says it will make the .travel domains immediately available to its resellers.

 

"The travel industry has been witnessing a tremendous boom worldwide. We completely support ICANN's decision for a separate TLD exclusively meant for the travel and tourism sectors," says Bhavin Turakhia, chairman and CEO of DirectI. "The launch of .travel will not only boost the industry's growth rate but also offer a unique alternative to registrants from the saturated .com and .net domain name space."
