(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator i/o (www.iodatacenters.com) announced on Monday that connectivity solutions provider AboveNet (www.above.net) has extended its dedicated fiber network to i/o New Jersey.
This announcement comes a week after i/o appointed a chief information officer, chief operating officer and VP of corporate communications.
According to the press release, i/o’s New Jersey facility is “the world’s largest modular data center.”
i/o says it was able to power and globally connect its data center in less than 60 days because of its modular design.
“As the demand for bandwidth and always-on connectivity increases, AboveNet will offer our customers greater diversity, adding to our world-class offering,” i/o president Anthony Wanger said in a statement. “i/o also provides carrier-neutral colocation. By allowing access to AboveNet’s highly optimized fiber optic network, our customers will be able to achieve ultra-low latency while maintaining superior route diversity.”
AboveNet has already formed connections to i/o’s data centers in Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona.
“We work collaboratively with i/o to deliver high performance, high bandwidth connectivity to support its customers’ needs to handle data-intensive applications such as multimedia transfers, financial transactions, cloud computing, data replication and disaster recovery,” Bill LaPerch, president and chief executive officer at AboveNet said in a statement. “This network will allow i/o’s customers to have reliable, industry-leading network connectivity.”
Recently, AboveNet provided fiber connectivity to DuPont Fabros Technology wholesale data center in New Jersey.
