AboveNet Expands Fiber Optic Service Into BTP

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Fiber optic connectivity solution provider AboveNet (www.above.net) announced on Thursday it has expanded its service into Baltimore Technology Park’s (www.baltimoretechnologypark.com) data center.

This capability is part of AboveNet’s continuing investment in connectivity to premier in-market data center providers.

“As the premier data center in Baltimore we are extremely pleased to have AboveNet as an on-net fiber provider at our facility,” says Jim Weller, president of BTP. “This helps us offer customers key data center capabilities, along with best of breed network partners, which combine to provide regional customers an unrivaled IT infrastructure platform.”

AboveNet provides fiber optic connectivity solutions for business and carriers.

The company’s private optical network delivers network and IP services in and among 15 top US metro markets and London, UK.

With the addition of AboveNet’s fiber optic capabilities to its carrier mix, BTP says its data center has become one of the most fiber-optic connected buildings in Baltimore.

The facility offers customers an optimal location to meet their secure infrastructure and high capacity network needs.

The 30,000-square-foot BTP data center provides infrastructure redundancy and security for all businesses.

AboveNet continues to expand its fiber optic network into other data centers across the country. In May, the company expanded its metro Ethernet network with Telx’s 8435 Stemmons facility.

The deal lets customers link to AboveNet’s metro Ethernet network throughout Texas, as well as provides customers with connectivity to AboveNet’s eXpressWave long-haul network where customers can link to other corporate locations.
