(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Linux hosting provider A2 Hosting (www.a2hosting.com) announced on Wednesday it is planting trees for each hosting package it sells during June.
A2 Hosting has partnered with nonprofit carbon reduction organization Carbonfund’s (www.carbonfund.org/trees) Million Tree Challenge.
The iniative lets organizations and individuals donate to plant trees to help reduce climate change, improve air quality and help preserve the Earth’s delicate ecosystem.
Each tree A2 Hosting plants is matched 2-to-1 by Carbonfund, for a total of three trees for every package sold.
Carbonfund is currently directing all Million Tree Challenge donations to tree planting in Haiti to help reduce floods and landslides in the earthquake-ravaged country.
Customers can also enter coupon code “3TREES” to receive 30 percent discount off their purchase.
With all of its hosting packages, A2 Hosting is offering offers FutureServe Green Hosting, an initiative to protect the environment for future generations.
The company says it also performs other environmentally friendly practices including employee telecommuting practices, recycling older equipment for customers with lower resource needs, using low voltage Xeon processors and using reusable office supplies.
“We are more than happy to offset our server emissions by donating to Carbonfund throughout the year,” says CEO Bryan Muthig, CEO of A2 Hosting. “We have decided to provide even further assistance to their cause by focusing on offsetting data center air conditioning emissions during our hot weather months.”
