October 1, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Utility computing technology developer 3Tera (3tera.com) announced on Wednesday it is now offering beta availability of AppLogic 2.4 which includes support for virtual appliances running Microsoft Windows Server.

Available as a service in the cloud or private clouds in enterprise data centers, the new Windows Server functionality is incorporated in all infrastructure aspects of AppLogic 2.4 which are necessary to run Web applications including storage, networking and load balancing. The addition of Windows functionality to AppLogic’s existing support of Linux, Sun’s Open Solaris and Solaris 10 follows June’s launch of Enterprise Cloud, 3Tera’s Cloudware architecture for open cloud computing.

AppLogic users can now deploy data center operating systems in their applications, and even use a combination of operating systems within applications as needed, helping to expand the use of cloud computing around the world.

“Windows support is an important requirement for an open cloud computing environment robust enough to take on any Web or enterprise application,” says Bert Armijo, senior vice president of sales and marketing at 3Tera. “Solutions like .net, IIS, SQL Server and Exchange have made Windows a critical part of IT infrastructure.”

AppLogic offers a highly scalable infrastructure to both small companies and major enterprises, says 3Tera. With the AppLogic user base growing beyond Linux, many have requested for Windows support, making it the most requested enhancement for the solution.

AppLogic 2.4.5 is available immediately to preferred partners and customers. 3Tera provides cloud computing technology and utility computing services, simplifying the deployment and scaling of Web applications.
