CrowdDirector is a vendor-neutral, rules-based content delivery load balancing service that helps publishers dynamically optimize content delivery across multiple CDNs, clouds and network resources.
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — To help organizations choose their best option in the crowded and competitive content delivery network marketplace, content delivery solutions developer 3Crowd Technologies (www.3crowd.com) has created a certification program designed to help CDNs differentiate their services through integration with 3Crowd’s CrowdDirector platform.
CrowdDirector launched in July as a vendor-neutral, rules-based content delivery load balancing service, which helps publishers dynamically optimize content delivery across multiple CDNs, clouds and network resources.
According to 3Crowd’s Thursday announcement, CDNs that have achieved 3Crowd CDN Certification are able to stand out by becoming part of 3Crowd’s on-demand community of content delivery service providers.
Potential CDN members are assessed based on technical criteria including performance and bandwidth utilization, implementation of security features including URL signing/tokenized URLs, token authentication and blocking parameters, and rich media delivery capabilities including HTTP seeking/progressive download and HTML5.
“We are working with great companies and it’s our goal to help them execute on their delivery strategy,” 3Crowd Technologies co-founder and chief executive officer Barrett Lyon said in a statement. “Connecting our customers with smoothly integrated CDN partners helps everyone involved. This program lets CDNs stand apart in a crowded market while ensuring customers get fantastic services. We are committed to integrating with CDNs to make them part of an on-demand community of providers, as well as exposing CDNs to potential new leads and revenue streams.”
Initial CDNs participating in the program include CDNetworks (www.us.cdnetworks.com), and Edgecast (www.edgecast.com). 3Crowd is, in turn, integrating with these delivery networks and is working to ensure the best interoperability for its publishing clients.
