March 8, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center developer and operator 365 Main (365main.com) announced on Wednesday it has provided popular classifieds Web site Craigslist.org (craigslist.org) with 100-percent uptime since the site became a tenant at 365 Main’s San Francisco, California facility one year ago.
Craigslist, which offers local classifieds and forums for 450 cities worldwide, is the seventh largest English-language site in the world and receives more than five billion page views per month. Since going live with 365 Main in February 2006, it has experienced zero unscheduled downtime, says the data center operator.
“More than 15 million people in all 50 states and more than 50 countries trust Craigslist each month to help them with critical time-sensitive needs such as finding a job or a place to live, so it’s extremely important that the site is up and running at all times in all time zones,” says Eric Scheide, Craigslist’s CTO. “365 Main’s world-class data center has played a key role in allowing us to serve the Craigslist community around the clock and around the globe, and we’ve been more than pleased with the caliber of service we’ve received.”
Craigslist says overall quality was the deciding factor in the choice to go with 365 Main for its colocation needs, in addition to location and price. The company says it also likes the number of carriers available in the facility and will probably take more advantage of that this year.
