January 18, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Symantec (symantec.com) announced yesterday that Nestlé (nestle.com), a major food company, has standardized on Symantec technology to protect its worldwide desktop, server and gateway network from virus infection and other malicious code.
r
r
Nestlé has purchased a four year 100,000 seat license for Symantec’s desktop
r
and server antivirus solution to complement a 100,000 seat gateway antivirus
r
license it already holds. In addition, Nestlé has purchased four year
r
100,000 seat licenses for Symantec’s pcAnywhere and Ghost enterprise
r
administration solutions.
r
r
Nestlé has also purchased a four year support service for Symantec to
r
provide on-going technical support as well as assistance in the global
r
roll-out program which is already underway. Nestlé, which owns
r
market-leading brands including Perrier , Vittel , Nescafé , Maggi , Buitoni
r
and Nestea , as well as pharmaceutical subsidiaries such as Alcon, has
r
operations in almost every country in the world. The new license agreements
r
extend a long-term relationship between Nestlé and Symantec. Nestlé had
r
previously used Symantec’s antivirus products across more than half of its
r
worldwide network.
r
r
Standardizing on Symantec’s Ghost will enable Nestlé remotely clone, deploy,
r
configure, back-up, restore and distribute software specific images to
r
network and mobile PCs. In addition, pcAnywhere will provide customizable
r
remote control for helpdesk support, server support and for remote access to
r
machines.
