123-reg Resells GlobalSign SSL Certificates

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — UK domain registrar 123-reg (www.123reg.co.uk) announced this week it has partnered with IT security services provider GlobalSign (www.globalsign.co.uk) to resell a new range of SSL certificate products.

The announcement follows 123-reg’s previous partnership in March with Google and Clickstream Technologies to offer a free Google Analytics service to all its web  hosting and InstantSite customers.

123-reg is now offering a five year SSL certificate licence starting at £5.99 per year. This includes payment transactions, web account logins, network traffic and other online services requiring high levels of authentication and confidentiality.

The Extended Validation certificate range activates the green address bar in web browsers, which proves to customers that the website provides the highest degree of trust.

The Domain Validated certificates range allows SSL certificates to be delivered within minutes, which are compatible with 99.9 percent of web browsers.

Businesses with more than one server, that would normally have to pay for individual licenses, can purchase GlobalSign’s “three for the price of one” licensing, which allows primary servers and backup servers to be secured using the same SSL certificate at no additional cost.

“We have partnered with GlobalSign, an established international Certificate Authority, to offer the most feature packed and cost effective SSL security options to our customers,” Thomas Vollrath, managing director at 123-reg. “Given how security conscious online shoppers have become, businesses must now provide the reassurances that help convert visitors into customers and aim to reduce the amount of shopping cart abandonment due to security concerns. The 123-reg SSL range now helps our customers achieve this.”

The SSL certificates are now available through 123-reg and other members of the Webfusion Group, including Webfusion UK and Donhost.
