February 7, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — UK domain registrar 123-reg (123-reg.com) announced on Thursday it has added the .cn domain name extension, just in time for Chinese New Year, as part of its expansion into Europe and Asia. The popular domain extension is now the fourth largest top level domain, having surpassed .UK last year.
The .CN domain extension is priced from £14.99, excluding VAT, per month. 123-reg have also added .ES (Spain) and .BE (Belgium) domains to its new range for the same price, with .DK (Denmark), .IT (Italy), .AT (Austria) and .CH (Switzerland) to follow shortly. These domain extensions enable businesses that have a presence in these specific countries to increase their online search ranking with a local domain.
All 123-reg domains include an InstantSite homepage that creates a professional website in minutes, as well as email forwarding, Web forwarding and free images from iStockphoto. Customers can purchase these from the 123-reg control panel and DNS settings can be amended to personal specifications, giving users total control and flexibility with their domain name.
“With our new range of domains, businesses can now gain online exposure globally,” says Mark Beyer, sales and marketing director at 123-reg. “The lucrative .CN market is increasing at such a rapid pace, that our new .cn domains provide access to a huge online population of potential customers. Having a local domain also helps boost online search rankings — perfect for businesses developing an international presence.”
123-reg announced last month that it partnered with Clickstream Technologies to automate implementation of Web analytics service, Google Analytics, for its Web hosting customers.
