December 7, 2006 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web performance measurement provider AlertSite (alertsite.com) announced on Wednesday it has launched CharityWorks, a program designed to provide six months of free Web site monitoring for charitable organizations that want to ensure their sites are available and running at peak performance throughout the holiday season.

According to CharityNavigator.org, 50 percent of all charitable giving occurs between Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve. Since many of these donations are made online, charitable Web sites are important resources for contributors and a site outage or performance problem can impact an organization's ability to receive and collect donations. AlertSite says its Web performance service monitors sites at regular intervals and provides immediate notification of downtime or slow load time to help charities quickly and accurately respond to a site issue.

"Web performance is often associated with profit-driven sites such as retail businesses, but it is an essential metric for any online organization, including charities with an online presence, especially during this time of year," says Ken Gross, president and CEO of AlertSite. "With the number of online donations continuing to climb, it is absolutely necessary that charity Web sites are available and performing well so every donation reaches those in need. We felt CharityWorks was a way to use our technology and our expertise to assist charitable organizations with their mission."

AlertSite says Share Our Strength, one of the nation's leading organizations working to end childhood hunger in America, is one of the first charities to take advantage of this service.
