(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Security software developer Echoworx Corporation (www.echoworx.com) has announced plans to create a secure UK data center location to support the European availability of its Policy-based Encryption Gateway.
According to the company's Thursday announcement, Echoworx's new data center will be live in January, offering European businesses access to Software as a Service-based data loss prevention.
Echoworx PBE Gateway helps businesses prevent data loss and leakage by enforcing encryption, Echoworx said, allowing businesses to comply with a variety of industry data regulations such as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and the UK Data Protection Act.
"Businesses are looking for encryption solutions that are simple to implement with no impact to their existing infrastructure," Echoworx president and chief executive officer Michael Ginsberg said in a statement. "The Echoworx reseller channel allows businesses to easily add encryption as a layer of protection to their existing content scanning products. PBE Gateway can be deployed with no impact to workflow. Once the policies are set, email is automatically encrypted based on privacy rules set by the company."
The average business loss for a large organization that suffers a data breach is $4.1 million, according to the Ponemon Institute (www.ponemon.org), an organization dedicated to advancing responsible information and privacy management practices in business and government. Ginsberg said "The low SaaS per-user fee allows businesses to cost effectively prevent security risks associated with regulatory violations and data loss."
Echoworx privacy applications are based on its Echoworx Encryption Services platform, hosted only at secure data centers in North America and Europe.
In preparation for its European launch, the product supports all major European languages, Korean, Japanese and Chinese, and has been integrated with third party content scanning and archiving solutions, where encryption is simply added on as a security feature.
