Verio Attracts Resellers with Free Month of VPS Hosting: Companies looking to boost revenues are finding Verio's Free VPS promotion the right fit for getting started as Hosting Reseller.

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Managed hosting provider Frontpages Web Hosting Network (www.fpweb.net) announced on Wednesday that it has begun offering Microsoft Office SharePoint Server hosting solutions that are compliant with the Department of Defense Directive 5015.2.

MOSS 2007 passed the necessary testing to achieve compliance with DOD 5015.2 as a records management application in May of last year.

According to the company's most recent announcement, Fpweb.net has taken the necessary measures in-house, including the installation of a DOD 5015.2 resource kit, to offer interested clients DOD compliant MOSS solutions. Installing this resource kit seems to be as effortless as downloading the DOD 5015.2 resource kit code from Microsoft's website, but the complete details are unclear.

DOD 5015.2 "establishes the policies and responsibilities required for electronic records management." Fpweb.net's website goes on to explain that this offering is targeted to any organization or company in a highly-regulated industry that needs to meet the operational or legislative guidelines and compliance policies set forth by the DOD, specifically regarding their records management solution.

Some of the features DOD compliant MOSS 2007 hosting offers customers include full control with managing one's organization and enforcing policies as needed; a records center site template to make it easier to implement; eDiscovery, which enables one to place records on hold or suspension, streamlining the process of document retrieval with no sacrifice to collaboration and search functionality and information rights management; and the ability to manage how users access and use the files available by placing limits on how files are decrypted and who can access them.

"Just because a product is DOD compliant, doesn't mean the hosting provider is willing to maintain and abide by that compliance," says Rob LaMear, CEO of Fpweb.net. "We've decided to go that extra step and support customers with DOD requirements."

Fpweb.net provides managed hosting services for SharePoint, Exchange, CRM, Project, PerformancePoint, Office Communications Server and SQL to customers around the world. All hosted services are housed in SAS 70 Type II data centers with PCI, SOX and HIPPA compliance to ensure the highest level of data security. According to the company's press release, Fpweb.net currently serves over 5,000 enterprise customers including the NY Yankees, US Air Force and BP Amoco.

In October, Fpweb.net reported it had named Tom Brauch as the company's new president. Brauch was formerly the director of web services for Fpweb.net and replaced LaMear, who remained as CEO of Fpweb.net and took on a "more evangelistic role for the company."
