(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Colocation provider Switch and Data (www.switchanddata.com) announced on Wednesday that fiber-optic connectivity solutions provider AboveNet (www.above.net) is offering a full suite of high-bandwidth Ethernet, IP and fiber data transport services to customers in Switch and Data's new North Bergen, New Jersey data center.
The fiber-optic connectivity solutions firm is offering solutions to Switch and Data's customers that range from simple IP transit and Ethernet metro connectivity, to high-bandwidth, low latency solution that connects a customer's North Bergen expansion to its existing infrastructure, to create a seamless, virtual data center spanning multiple locations.
AboveNet's private, metropolitan fiber network enables its customers to solve critical issues, including cost containment, security and reliability, while providing private secure communications with nearly unlimited capacity and flexibility at competitive rates.
Its private optical network delivers key network and IP services in and among 14 US metro markets and London. AboveNet offers metro access networks, wide area networks and managed services, including WDM wavelength services, metro Ethernet, WAN Ethernet and IP transit in Switch and Data's North Bergen site.
"Our investments in key markets like the New York metro region continue to support our customers' increasing need for data center space and interconnection services to aggregate and distribute global IP based content and applications," says Ernie Sampera, senior VP of marketing at Switch and Data. "We are pleased that AboveNet has invested to deploy high performance fiber connectivity solutions in more than a dozen of our data centers, most recently in our new North Bergen, [New Jersey] site."
The New York metro region has experienced high customer demand for data center and Internet exchange services, resulting in many existing facilities running low on space or power to support customer growth.
AboveNet has already invested half-a-million dollars this past quarter on data center connections with its network to provide high-bandwidth interconnectivity to more than 300 data centers, supporting its customers' IT virtualization plans.
These services enable companies to deploy infrastructure at a new high-capacity site, such as Switch and Data's North Bergen site, and connect it back to existing facilities to create a single virtual infrastructure, with scalability capabilities.
Switch and Data's 163,000 square foot North Bergen site has the ability to supply more than 200 watts per square foot of power and cooling capacity.
Once it is fully completed, the site will be supplied with more than 26 megawatts of power with full N+1 redundancy for its UPS, generator and cooling infrastructure.
