(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Cloud storage provider Mezeo Software (www.mezeo.com) announced on Wednesday it has launched the Cloud Storage Strategy (www.cloudstoragestrategy.com) monthly newsletter, which will focus on cloud storage insights and observations from industry leaders.

The Business Model Toolkit helps service providers assess the benefits and costs of entering the cloud storage market, offering a sample business model where users can calculate the potential return on investment from offering a cloud storage service.

The Cloud Storage Strategy newsletter and Business Model Toolkit will help educate people on the benefits of switching over to a cloud model, as many companies are still skeptical about adopting cloud technology.

In a recent independent study commissioned by PEER 1 Network Enterprises, 88 percent of IT decision makers said they do not use cloud technologies, while 39 percent said that their lack of knowledge is preventing them from adopting cloud computing.

"An emerging technology, Cloud Storage is growing rapidly, and CloudStorageStrategy.com encourages everyone in the industry to ask questions, discuss alternatives and help shed some light on this fast-paced and exciting market," says Steve Lesem, CEO of Mezeo Software. "The Mezeo team sponsored this forum because we want to interact with others who are interested in generating new capabilities that truly create forward-looking business value."

Lesem says that he and Mezeo chairman Gray Hall have both seen a shift in the marketplace as cloud storage became a key part of the overall cloud computing strategy and major new companies with cloud-based offerings began to redefine the hosting and SaaS market.

The Mezeo Cloud Storage Platform is a software-only solution with RESTful Web Services APIs for programmatic access to storage.

The solution provides service providers with the ability to provide their own hosted and branded cloud storage offerings to their customers.

Files stored in a Mezeo-based cloud can be securely accessed via pre-built, brandable access clients including the Web, smartphones and desktop, using the Mezeo Native client for Windows and WebDAV based connectivity for Linux and Mac.

Next month, Mezeo will release version 3.0 of its Mezeo Cloud Storage Platform, which promises to offer a significant enhancement to the product.

Individuals can currently sign up for the monthly Cloud Storage Strategy newsletter and download the Cloud Storage Business Model Toolkit at the Cloud Storage Strategy website.

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. The balloting process was our first experiment with a kind of user participation we're planning to do a lot more with in the months to come. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project.

July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer.

May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.
