By Justin Lee, November 17, 2009

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- AFCOM (www.afcom.com), an organization for data center professionals, unveiled on Tuesday the details of its upcoming Data Center World Spring 2010 (www.datacenterworld.com).

The conference and tradeshow will be held on March 7 through 11, 2010 at the Gaylord Opryland, Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

The event follows the success of last month's Data Center World 2009 and Expo, where more than 600 data center professionals gathered at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

AFCOM will celebrate 30 years as an organization at the upcoming Data Center World Spring 2010 conference and tradeshow.

Highlights of the upcoming event include Live Data Center Tours, for a fee of $200, which will be held on March 7 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Users will be transported from the Gaylord Opryland Hotel to the facilities, which includes Vanderbilt University and Dolphini Networks.

The conference will include roundtable sessions, which will give attendees an opportunity to interact with one another and learn from their widespread experience.

These sessions will be run by a panel of experts, with an open-forum style that provides an atmosphere for frank discussions about the following topics:

There will also optional full-day tutorials, which provide attendees with professional training and insight into today's key data center management issues. These tutorials will take place on March 8, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and include a continental breakfast and lunch.

The organization says it will release more details on the event in the coming weeks, including a full list of participating speakers and exhibitors.

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. The balloting process was our first experiment with a kind of user participation we're planning to do a lot more with in the months to come. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project.

July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer.

May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.
