November 15, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Affinity Internet (affinity.com) announced on Tuesday that it had released the results of its 2005 Affinity eCommerce survey, which set out to measure how e-commerce trends will impact small businesses in the upcoming holiday season.
The nationwide e-commerce survey revealed that increasing energy costs and the effects from natural disasters will drive more people to do their holiday shopping online. It also showed that this shift in e-commerce is expected to directly impact small businesses.
Over 2,700 business owners with Web sites participated in Affinity's eCommerce survey to help identify online holiday sales predictions and gain greater insight into online marketing trends. The results showed that, 70 percent of those surveyed say they expect overall e-commerce sales this holiday season will be better than last year, 69 percent expect to see an increase in Web site traffic this holiday season, and 54 percent expect that their businesses e-commerce holiday sales will be better than last year.
"This holiday season brings with it the promise of increased online shopping, and with advents like search engine optimization and local search, small business stand to disproportionately benefit," says John Enright, vice president of marketing at Affinity Internet. "It is our responsibility to prepare our customers to take full advantage, both meeting and exceeding their holiday sales goals."
