SoftLayer Offers Virtuozzo to Resellers

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting software provider Parallels (www.parallels.com) announced on Thursday that web hosting provider SoftLayer (www.softlayer.com) is now offering virtualization operating system Parallels Virtuozzo Containers as part of its dedicated server offerings for resellers.

Last month, Parallels launched Plesk Control Panel 9.0 beta, a test version of its control panel software.

This newest offering extends its previous offering of Parallels Virtuozzo Containers to the reseller market, which it says will increase "customer loyalty and [provide] an end-to-end solution for infrastructure, hardware and applications to customers and service providers worldwide."

By incorporating Parallels Virtuozzo Containers into its dedicated server offering, SoftLayer enables web hosts to gain the benefits of virtualization, reduce the total cost of ownership resulting from server consolidation and the virtualize the entire data center, which can eventually lead to an increased profits for resellers.

This combination of Softlayer technology and Parallels Virtuozzo Containers enables hosting resellers to focus on sales and customer support without having to worry about managing colocation space, power, cooling and hardware support.
