(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Windows and Linux hosting provider Intermedia (www.intermedia.net) has updated its Windows plans to include Windows Server 2008 with IIS 7 and muiltiple SQL 2008 databases, expanding its web hosting offerings that make up about a quarter of its business.

According to a company spokesperson in an email to the WHIR, hosted Exchange focussed Intermedia has turned its attention to web hosting this week by upgrading its Windows hosting offerings.

Intermedia's new Windows hosting plans also offer ASP.NET 3.5, PHP 5 and AJAX support in four packages ranging in price from $15.95 to $89.95. Customers can still request Windows 2003 packages starting at $5.95.

Founded in 1995, Intermedia began as a web hosting provider; however, it has since moved toward a more hosted application-focused model. It has kept its web hosting divistion alive, with offerings geared toward a advanced web developers.

Intermedia offers a reseller discount program for those who sign up for multiple Intermedia hosting accounts for their customers. The company also has an active web hosting referral program.
