HostMySite Offers Alert Logic Services

By Anastasia Tubanos, November 05, 2008

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- On-demand IT compliance and security solutions provider Alert Logic (www.alertlogic.com) has signed a partnership agreement with managed hosting provider HostMySite.com (www.hostmysite.com) equipping HostMySite.com customers with Alert Logic's Log Manager and Threat Manager for PCI Data Security Standard compliance.

"We are excited to partner with Alert Logic because of their extensive experience delivering innovative intrusion detection, vulnerability management and log management solutions to the hosting industry," HostMySite.com chief executive officer Art Zeile said in a statement. "Our partnership with Alert Logic, allows us to expand the portfolio of services that we offer our customers - helping them to address the security and compliance challenges that they face."

As part of the new partnership announced Wednesday, HostMySite.com will become a member of Alert Logic's Vanguard Program, giving it priority product support, as well as discounts and added revenue opportunities.

Log Manager lets organizations secure their networks and comply with regulations that mandate log data be collected, regularly reviewed, and securely archived. Threat Manager combines intrusion detection and vulnerability management technology to combat viruses and worms that can bypass perimeter and endpoint defenses.

According to Alert Logic, both services are delivered on a Software-as-a-Service platform, letting HostMySite.com quickly deploy them on behalf of its clients, who can access Log Manager and Threat Manager through a web browser with no software installation or maintenance required.

"HostMySite.com is often called upon to help their customers comply with regulations such as the PCI DSS and we are excited that our products will help them to meet that need," Alert Logic president and CEO Michael Turner in a statement. "By utilizing Alert Logic's security and compliance solutions, HostMySite.com's customers will have a much easier time complying with PCI DSS and enhancing their overall security posture."

In October, web host NaviSite (www.navisite.com) and OpSource (www.opsource.net) also began offering Alert Logic's Log Manager and Threat Manager to customers.

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. The balloting process was our first experiment with a kind of user participation we're planning to do a lot more with in the months to come. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project.

July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer.

May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.
