1&1 Internet Offers RSS Tool
June 21, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider 1&1 Internet (1and1.com) announced on Wednesday it is offering EasyRSS, a new tool which creates a Real Simple Syndication feed and displays it on a Web site.
EasyRSS enables users to display information updates instantly. Customers can create their own content such as news for a Web site by using the 1&1 Dynamic Content Catalog to show third-party news, create a simple podcast or create a photocast in combination with 1&1 Photo Gallery and broadcast to interested audiences.
RSS is a spam free content delivery vehicle that is protected from viruses, enabling the customer to have full control of receiving content, unlike mailing lists.
“However, we see RSS trickling down to the consumer and small businesses,” says John Cook, GM of 1&1. “For instance, a little league coach disseminating the team’s current batting averages and other statistics. In addition, itÂ’s an ideal tool for podcasting and photocasting, which is very popular right now.”
