Peak 10 Web casts Offer Insight

By theWHIR.com , October 23, 2007

October 23, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Data center operator and managed services provider Peak 10 (peak10.com) announced on Tuesday that its quarterly Web cast series continues to offer insight and expertise to professionals in the IT industry.

The company says each Web cast offers a unique perspective on industry trends and how organizations can best use new information to enhance their IT business models and improve their business performance.

The most recent Peak 10 Web cast, entitled "Network Perimeter Security: Securing and Protecting Critical Information Online," revealed the steps necessary for companies to effectively secure their systems and data from unauthorized online access and covered topics like managing firewall security, high availability, VPN security and content filtering along with examples of real-world deployments.   Previous Peak 10 Web casts have covered timely issues surrounding the topics of data storage and back-up, disaster recovery, business continuity and virtualization.

"A company's most important tool for sound operation is knowledge," says Monty Blight, VP of managed services for Peak 10 and moderator of the Peak 10 Web casts. "If a company is up-to-speed on industry information and trends, then they have the ability to operate ahead of the curve. Peak 10 is happy to share such applicable information with organizations to help them achieve continued success. Our Web casts offer information regarding the skills and services that many organizations seek to keep their businesses a step ahead of their competition."

Earlier this month, Peak 10 was named a finalist in the Top Customer Service Company of the Year category for the 2007 North Carolina Technology Association 21 Awards.

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. The balloting process was our first experiment with a kind of user participation we're planning to do a lot more with in the months to come. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project.

July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer.

May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.
