October 22, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- INetU Managed hosting (www.inetu.net) announced on Wednesday it is officially EU Safe Harbor Certified, which ensures that it protects its customers' personal information by monitoring all of its data-collection and retention processes.

By gaining EU Safe Harbor Certification, INetU is able to continue doing business with European companies, where Safe Harbor requirements were enacted.

Though the United States and European Union have taken different approaches to privacy, the ultimate goals are the same.

The US depends on a combination of legislation, regulation, and self-regulation, whereas the EU enacted requirements that formed government data protection agencies, registration of databases with those agencies, and in some cases prior approval before personal data processing may begin.

INetU turned to TRUSTe to help the company comply with these international standard. TRUSTe, the trust mark and recognized authority on Internet privacy best-practices, set clear privacy guidelines, closely examined INetU?s website and client center practices, and helped write a comprehensive privacy policy that is viewable to the public.

Since the site's certification, TRUSTe will continue helping INetU consistently adhere to Safe Harbor requirements, enabling the company to better protect customers' private identifying information.

"With companies conducting more business online, it's easier for people to take advantage of sensitive information," says Dev Chanchani, president of INetU Managed Hosting. "We want our clients, local and international, to know how we collect their information, why we need it, and what we?re going to do with it. That's why we asked TRUSTe to ensure we?re doing all we can. Our clients should know that their personal data has always been secure and will stay that way."

INetU provides a range of services including managed hosting, security, disaster recovery, managed Exchange, and consultancy services.

In June, Web analytics firm Netcraft announced that INetU Managed Hosting was the most reliable hosting site for May 2008.

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. The balloting process was our first experiment with a kind of user participation we're planning to do a lot more with in the months to come. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project.

July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer.

May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.
