October 10, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider FatCow Web Hosting (www.fatcow.com) announced on Wednesday it is recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month by donating $1 from every new signup during October to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).

Last week, FatCow announced it is celebrating its 10 year anniversary by throwing a contest that rewards 10 year web hosting contract, in addition to offering a special anniversary promotional price of $78 a year for its its Original FatCow web hosting plan.

This is the second year that FatCow is participating in the Pink for October program (www.pinkforoctober.org), with donations benefiting breast cancer research, education and advocacy. In support of the cause, the company is also displaying a pink ribbon with its logo at the top of every page of its website for the entire month.

The Pink for October website, which is hosted by Media Temple (http://mediatemple.net/), was launched in 2006 with roughly 1,500 sites participating.

This number doubled in 2007 with 3,000 sites "going pink," and the organizers hope that this figure will only continue to increase with each year.

According to the website's "about" section, "raising money isn't the primary purpose" of the program. The organizers hope that the program will raise awareness about the disease, and that people will educate themselves about breast cancer issues.

The Pink for October program encourages sites to 'Go Pink' in an effort to increase awareness about breast cancer, educate people on the disease, and raise money for research.

"It is vital to raise awareness and educate people, and it is essential to find advanced ways to diagnose and cure this terrible disease," says Paul Bukhovko, marketing manager for FatCow. "As a company, we want to do what we can to help in the fight against breast cancer. And, we hope that by donating to the American Cancer Society, we can help bring hope one step closer to those affected by this disease."

FatCow provides a range of shared Web hosting solutions, including website management, domain registration, email, e-commerce, scripting and add-ons, and marketing services, for individuals and small businesses.

In its press release, the company says it "pioneered the one plan, one price philosophy" when it began offering its all-in-one Web site hosting package.
