October 8, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Domain registrar and web hosting provider Network Solutions (www.networksolutions.com) announced on Wednesday it has named Scott Ableman as chief marketing officer and Dr. Satyam Priyadarshy as chief knowledge officer.

These are the first major appointments the company has announced since February, when it named Travis Fore the company's senior vice president of sales.

In his position as CMO, Ableman will lead marketing, Web sales, product marketing, and other marketing functions. He has extensive experience in product marketing and management, customer marketing, marketing analysis, search marketing and user experience.

Ableman previously served at Network Solutions as vice president of marketing, where he was instrumental in expanding the company's line of products and services. Ableman returns to the company after serving as senior vice president of marketing for cell phones and wireless services retailer Simplexity.

He has also held the senior vice president/chief marketing officer position at telecommunications provider Winstar Communications, as well as held several management positions in consumer and business-to-business marketing at MCI Communications.

As CKO, Dr. Priyadarshy will lead the competitive intelligence division comprised of customer information, research and data analytics. He has a wide range of experience including strategic, business, and technology consulting to chief executive officers, chief technology officers and senior leaders of global technology companies.

He previously held various positions including senior research scientist among others at AOL, as well as multiple scientific positions at Rutgers, University of Pittsburgh, and The University of Sydney, Australia. Having authored over 30 research papers, Dr. Priyadarshy's expertise is in creating and analyzing data for product improvement, enhancing consumer experience and innovation

Both Ableman and Dr. Priyadarshy will report to Network Solutions' CEO, Roy Dunbar.

"We are pleased to have both Satyam and Scott join our team in these critical roles, serving our customers while continuing to drive the success of our organization," says Dunbar.

Network Solutions offers a full range of services that includes web hosting, web design, e-commerce software, search engine marketing, SSL certificates, email services and domain name registration.

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. The balloting process was our first experiment with a kind of user participation we're planning to do a lot more with in the months to come. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project.

July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer.

May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.
