1-800-HOSTING Supports Open Cloud Manifesto

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Managed hosting provider 1-800-HOSTING (www.800hosting.com) announced on Friday it is offering support of the Open Cloud Manifesto (www.opencloudmanifesto.org).

The announcement follows 1-800-HOSTING recent launch of its company blog, which provides customers with some insight into the minds of its employees.

The companys says the goals of the Manifesto align with its own core business values.

The Manifesto is designed to “initiate a conversation that will bring together the emerging cloud computing community (both cloud users and cloud providers) around a core set of principles.”

The full Manifesto can be viewed here on the Open Cloud Manifesto’s website.

With the recent advancement of cloud computing technology, the Open Cloud Manifesto “aims to protect consumers by offering the same open environment, if not better, that has always been available in the hosting industry,” according to the press release.

“While the term ‘cloud’ is still being hotly debated, and is often interpreted differently among individuals, 1-800-HOSTING is aiming to debut its cloud computing offering based on common industry standards,” says Christopher Shaffer, director of network services. “By doing so 1-800-HOSTING is working to ensure that its new cloud computing offering is inline with the principles of the Open Cloud Manifesto. This affords organizations a quicker time to market for their online presence by utilizing familiar technologies and infrastructure as they deploy new services or migrate existing applications to 1-800-HOSTING’s scalable cloud architecture.”

The company’s cloud offering includes such features as web based management of all user’s VM’s, SAN storage availability, global load balancing between data centers.

1-800-HOSTING provides hosting solutions to small, medium, and enterprise level businesses, including dedicated, managed, and cloud hosting platforms.
