September 2, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- After announcing a strategic partnership in late July, online customer feedback and reputation management services provider RatePoint (ratepoint.com) will begin offering its website reputation management service to all new 1&1 business hosting customers of web host 1&1 Internet (1and1.com) starting this month.
According to 1&1's announcement Tuesday, customers signing up for Business Web Hosting packages between September 10 and October 30 will receive a bonus RatePoint license free of charge for the life of the contract, enabling users to collect feedback from visitors and display a star-rating for satisfaction, establishing credibility and trust.
Starting at $9.99 per month, 1&1 business hosting packages include professional "eShops" from $24.99 and managed servers from $99. According to the company, customers ordering now stand to save more than $200 per year. According to 1&1, after the offer ends, RatePoint will become available to other 1&1 customers for $9.99 per month.
"While most US businesses have taken steps towards a presence online, very few enjoy the means to turn their online sales into a positive online image," 1&1 chief executive officer Oliver Mauss said in a statement.
Reputation can weigh heavily in online purchasing behavior, according to a Juniper Research study published in August 2006 that found 77 percent of online shoppers polled use reviews and ratings.
Mauss said, "As the web becomes an increasingly competitive landscape for US businesses, reputation management and online CRM will become vital for protecting revenues and market share."
Mauss further explained the significance of 1&1's partnership with RatePoint in an interview with the WHIR's Anastasia Tubanos at HostingCon 2008.
