August 26, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Cleveland data center, colocation and managed services provider Expedient (expedient.com) has completed the fourth phase of its $2 million Cleveland data center expansion, adding 3,800 square feet and 90 tons of cooling to its current 450 tons.

According to Expedient's announcement Tuesday, the improvements also include a raised floor and a DuPont FM-200 fire suppression system. Located in the Garfield Heights neighborhood of Cleveland, expansion plans were first announced in February. Plans for a new facility are now underway.

The Expedient website includes a "photo tour" of the Cleveland facility, along with a "video tour" of the data center, and photos and videos of several of the company's other facilities.

"We have already started planning a new $10 million dollar facility due to the rate in which we have been filling our existing Cleveland data center," Expedient vice president of sales Bryan Smith said in a statement.

The Cleveland data center is networked with the company's other data centers including those in Pittsburgh, Chicago and Boston via 10Gbps, long-haul fiber optic rings, providing access to multiple Tier 1 providers for local and national customers.

The Cleveland data center currently includes four redundant uninterruptible power supplies, 450 tons of HVAC, two 2.5 Megawatt diesel generators, video camera surveillance, key card entrance and lockable cabinets. According to the company, Expedient's business in Cleveland grew by more than half in 2007.

Expedient belongs to the Continental Broadband (continentalbroadband.com) internet data provider group owned by Landmark Communications (landmarkcom.com), a diverse media group that includes newspapers, television broadcasting, cable TV programming and electronic publishing.
