CRE Updates E-commerce App

August 22, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- E-commerce solution provider Chain Reaction Ecommerce (getcre.com) has released the latest version of open-source, e-commerce solution CRE Loaded Version 6.3, making it easier to create and manage online storefronts and shopping cart systems.

On Friday, CRE announced version 6.3 would be available in standard and professional editions delivering significant improvements and enhancements to the open-source e-commerce system, including a redesigned administrative interface that promises to make it easier for all users to manage their online storefronts and shopping cart systems.

"Version 6.3 is a milestone release for CRE," company chief executive officer Michael Valverde said in a statement. "This release features the most significant round of updates and enhancements ? driven by ongoing feedback from our large install base and open source community."

According to CRE, the new release features "Content Director," a content management system; SEO URL 4.1 to indexing URLs for all major search engines; and "One-Page Checkout," which combines all checkout elements into a single-page to reduce shopping cart abandonment rates.

As proof that open-source, e-commerce solutions are gaining acceptance among webhosts, earlier this week, web hosting provider ProperHost.net (properhost.net) launched new hosting plans optimized for free, open-source, e-commerce platform Magento (magentocommerce.com), providing professional free Magento installation and monthly fees starting at $19.95.
