August 21, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Domain registrar and web hosting provider Go Daddy (godaddy.com) announced on Thursday it has launched Go Daddy Unlimited Email in response to the ongoing growth of email boxes.
Web analyst firm IDC Research estimates the number of email boxes worldwide will reach two billion in 2010, representing an increase of more than 297 percent in a decade.
To accommodate this increasing need for storage space, Go Daddy is offering its Unlimited Email plan to provide customers unlimited storage for mailboxes.
Though Go Daddy's hosting plans include free email accounts, they only offer 100MB of storage space. Customers who are looking for additional storage must purchase one of the company's paid email plans.
Prior to offering the Unlimited Email plan, Go Daddy offered two email plans: Personal Email and Deluxe Email. The Personal Email plan is priced at $9.99 per year and offers 1GB and 1 mailbox, while the Deluxe Email plan is $19.99 per year and includes 2GB and 5 mailboxes.
Go Daddy argues that this new Unlimited Email plan, priced at $29.99 per year, provides customers with a greater value by offering unlimited storage and up to 10 mailboxes.
Customers can also create a customized address, as well as gain access to Online File Folder and Calendar, which provides customers with online storage capacity for photos and files, as well as the ability to create a personal calendar that can be kept private or shared with others.
"It was an easy decision for us to offer unlimited email storage," says CEO and founder Bob Parsons. "It gives our customers the peace of mind they will always have space for incoming emails. This is about giving our customers what they want and that's what Go Daddy is all about!"
Go Daddy Web-based Email also affords its users virus protection, spam filtering, phishing fraud protection and 256-bit encryption, as a few of the enhancements for no extra charge.
Last week, web analytics firm Netcraft announced that Go Daddy currently holds a 20.5 percent share of the SSL market, based on the results of a recent study it conducted.
