Go Daddy Sees Increase in .tv Sales
Verio Attracts Resellers with Free Month of VPS Hosting: Companies looking to boost revenues are finding Verio's Free VPS promotion the right fit for getting started as Hosting Reseller.
August 21, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Domain registrar and Web hosting provider Go Daddy (godaddy.com) announced on Monday that it has been seeing an increase in registrations of the .tv top-level domain.
Go Daddy says there has been a 65 percent increase in .tv registrations over 2006. Some of the reasons can be seen through a recent report from the Pew Internet and American Life Project that found that almost one in every five adults online watched or downloaded video on a typical day and more than half of online video viewers shared links to the video they found with others, says the company.
Go Daddy says television stations and media companies make up a large majority of the customers registering names that end in .tv because its logical and easy for viewers to find the sites, but Go Daddy has also found that more and more small business owners are registering .tv names because they can use a .tv site to show product demonstration videos or taped customer testimonials.
"People associate TV with their entertainment experience from television," says Warren Adelman, president and chief operating officer of Go Daddy. "That's why .tv names are especially good for video and multimedia sites. TV is one of the most recognized two-letter symbols in the world, so it's memorable and marketable."
Last week, Go Daddy combined two of its products, Quick Blog and Quick Podcast, into its new tool, Quick Blogcast.
