August 12, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Enterprise software developer Oracle (oracle.com) has announced it has released an update to its WebLogic Server 10g, including new integration with Oracle Fusion Middleware and BEA (bea.com) software.

Announced Monday, Oracle WebLogic Server 10g Release 3 is one of the first products to combine technology from Oracle Fusion Middleware and BEA Systems, a software company Oracle bought in January for a reported $8.5 billion.

In July, Oracle announced its Oracle Fusion Middleware strategy and plans for integration of BEA products. The new product, according to the company, shows Oracle's quick progress in incorporating these technologies into a unified product offering.

As the cornerstone of Oracle's WebLogic Suite, WebLogic Server 10g R3 will contribute to a comprehensive enterprise application foundation and service-oriented architecture, supporting application grids, adaptive management and stable performance.

"The accelerated release of Oracle WebLogic Server 10g R3 demonstrates our commitment to BEA customers to quickly deliver new integrations with Oracle Fusion Middleware," Middleware division senior vice president Thomas Kurian said in a statement. "As the number one middleware provider, we plan to continue providing a complete and pre-integrated middleware suite that allows our customers to develop and deploy applications on the Internet."

The new Oracle WebLogic Server includes new features and capabilities including a lighter-weight footprint, expanded support for Spring developer, Web 2.0-style rich user interfaces, and Java SE 6 and JRockit Mission Control support. It is also integrated with Oracle Fusion Middleware products such as Oracle JDeveloper, Coherence, TopLink and Enterprise Manager.
