Verio Attracts Resellers with Free Month of VPS Hosting: Companies looking to boost revenues are finding Verio's Free VPS promotion the right fit for getting started as Hosting Reseller.

August 11, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Security vendor Check Point Software (checkpoint.com) will give away free full versions of its ZoneAlarm ForceField for a 24-hour period starting 9 am eastern time, Tuesday, August 12.

According to the announcement, the software promotion worth $29.95 will run the same day as Microsoft's "Patch Tuesday," the day Microsoft unveils its latest browser and operating system patches to deal with DNS flaws found by internet research and security firm Kaspersky Labs (kaspersky.com). The security package will be available through a special company web page (zonealarm.com/patchtuesday).

In July, Check Point released a fix for its ZoneAlarm personal firewall products that revives internet connections affected by a flawed Microsoft security patch issued earlier in the month.

According to recent studies cited by Check Point, more than half of all web sites including many popular searching, social networking and shopping sites are infected with some form of malware. When new browser vulnerabilities are discovered, they can be exploited almost immediately and there is a time lapse before a patch can be deployed. According to Check Point, patching alone is not enough. ForceField provides immediate protection against the latest threats and closes an attacker's window of opportunity.

"We wanted to emphasize the importance of putting a series of safety practices into place when consumers surf the Web," Check Point ZoneAlarm consumer division vice president and general manager Laura Yecies said in a statement. "Keeping patches up-to-date is vital for maintaining optimal Web security -- but is not enough -- which is why employing a browser security solution such as ZoneAlarm ForceField is critical."
