August 3, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) --  Web hosting provider Greenest Host (greenesthost.com) announced this week it is now offering 100 percent solar powered Web hosting plans.

Greenest Host provides an extensive portfolio of services including hosting, domain registration and email, using a green technology data center that operates on clean solar energy 100 percent of the time. By signing up, consumers and small businesses can build a Web presence and know that with every Web visitor’s click they are reducing carbon emissions.

"The idea for such a venture developed out of our firsthand experience with data center operations," says Mike Corrales, president and CEO of Greenest Host. "Ask any data center operations person how power and cooling-hungry most Web servers are. When we ran the numbers, we were astounded by how much pollution can be reduced when switching to green technology hosting. Greenest Host literally produces zero carbon emissions."

The company also announced that for every new account created through the end of 2007, they will donate $5 to the Environmental Defense Fund, for a total amount of up to $500,000.
