Tiscali Expands Network with Equinix

July 30, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Tiscali International Network (tiscali.net) and data center operator Equinix (equinix.com) announced on Wednesday that TINet has selected Equinix as a strategic partner for the expansion of the carrier's European network initially from Equinix's Frankfurt and Paris Internet Business Exchange data centers.

The announcement follows Tuesday's news of Equinix partnering with London Internet Exchange exchange point to extend the LINX peering fabric into Equinix's London-4 Internet Business Exchange data center located in Slough, England.

TINet has also recently expanded into additional markets in Canada, the US and Europe, opening PoPs in Toronto, Canada and Marseille, France. TINet offers IP Transit, MPLS lines and long distance Ethernet services to major service providers in North America, Hong Kong, Singapore and across Europe. With an extensive network of close to 100 IP/MPLS PoPs, the company says it is a "specialist providing exclusively wholesale services to service and content providers worldwide."  "We have partnered with Equinix in Europe because of the high quality and reliability of their IBX data centers as well as for the opportunities Equinix offers to interconnect with important players and key customers across the world, providing TINet with an opportunity to expand our global network while enhancing reliability and performance and reducing overall costs," says Paolo Gambini, sales and marketing director at TINet. Equinix provides network-neutral data center and interconnection services, offering premium colocation, traffic exchange and outsourced IT infrastructure solutions.

The company's 40 IBX centers spanning North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, serve as critical, core hubs for IP networks and Internet operations worldwide.

TINet delivers international wholesale products, including IP Transit and MPLS lines, to carriers and service providers worldwide.
