- By Justin Lee, July 27, 2010
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Real estate developer Benaroya announced on Tuesday it will open the first phase of its new data center in South Hill, Washington, later this week.
Dubbed South Hill Business and Technology Center, the building will open with an inital 56,605 square feet of raised floor.
The site also includes another building that is comprised of 60,000 to 70,000 square feet of additional data center space in cold-shell condition, ready to be built out.
The carrier-neutral data center includes onsite containerized data center space for additional flexibility and scalability, with five carriers offering connectivity.
Located on a 92 acre data center campus, the site includes a dedicated onsite substation with a 42.5MW capacity that can be expanded to 67.5MW.
The data center features a green design that includes energy efficient evaporative cooling, adaptive reuse, electrical power provided through hydroelectric and wind sources, minimal water usage, and is expected to receive LEED Gold and Energy Star certification.
These green features are expected to save the data center 35 percent or more in energy consumption, earning a 1.32 PUE.
