July 21, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Russia-based, international computer security firm Kaspersky Labs (kaspersky.com) had its Malaysian website hacked on the weekend reportedly by a Turkish nationalist nicknamed "m0sted."According to Zone-H ITsec, an IT news and security monitoring site, which published the report on Sunday, m0sted also hacked Kaspersky Anti-Virus's official Kaspersky online shop and several subdomains. Kaspersky.com.my was since locked down.A screenshot of the attacked website is available on Zone-H's website. According to Zone-H, "patriotism" was the reason behind the attack and SQL injection as the mode of intrusion.This is the latest in a lengthening list of Turkish attacks, including photo hosting site Photobucket's (photobucket.com]]> ) hijacking in June by Turkish hacking group "NetDevilz," and when Turkish hackers rerouted traffic in June of some ICANN (icann.org) domains and subsidiary organization IANA (iana.org).Though speculation, Zone-H suggests that this security breech could result in risks for end-users who download software from the website. "In theory, the attacker could have uploaded trojanized versions of the antivirus, infecting in this way the unaware users attempting a download from a trusted Kaspersky's file repository," the Zone-H article said.According to Zone-H tracking archives, Kaspersky was last hacked in March, when several of its France-based sites were hacked by "zero-cool."
