July 17, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Managed services provider Verizon Business (verizonbusiness.com) announced on Monday that it has launched a new offering to help organizations that need a high-bandwidth solution for converging multiple technologies onto a single network, Verizon Integrated Optical Service.

Verizon says the new service provides a dedicated optical network that enables for the integration of optical technologies such as dense wave division multiplexing and synchronous optical network, in addition to Ethernet onto a single "ring" platform. The platform can support a wide range of time-division multiplexing, storage, video and mainframe applications, says the company.

"Verizon is a leader bringing next-generation optical services to light," says Nancy Gofus, senior VP and chief marketing officer for Verizon Business. "With this new service, we've brought together our company's depth and experience with optical technologies, a vast fiber infrastructure and expert engineering resources to take fiber optics to the next level for our business customers in response to their rapidly changing communications requirements."

Last week, Verizon Business completed its previously announced acquisition of Cybertrust, providing the company with a combined security services staff of more than 1,100 professionals deployed throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region.
