July 15, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Social media company iNET Interactive (inetinteractive.com), the media company that, among other properties, owns the popular web hosting community Web Hosting Talk (webhostingtalk.com), announced on Tuesday it has acquired the HostingCon (hostingcon.com) conference and trade show from Interjuncture (interjuncture.com). The acquisition will be effective July 31 following the close of HostingCon 2008.

Interjuncture will continue to oversee all aspects of HostingCon 2008, while iNET Interactive's staff will be on-hand to address any questions from attendees and exhibitors as well as discuss the details of HostingCon 2009. Founded in 2005, HostingCon is considered the world's largest conference and trade show serving the hosted services industry.

This year's event, which will be held July 28 to 30 at Navy Pier in Chicago, is expected to draw over 1,500 hosted services professionals and nearly 100 exhibitors, says Interjuncture.

The event features keynote addresses from Serguei Beloussov, the chairman and CEO of Parallels, and Mark Rogers, the director of cloud computing services at Microsoft.

Acquiring HostingCon is a natural extension for iNET Interactive, who says it further strengthens its position as the leading media company serving the hosted services industry.

Founded in 2002, iNET operates many high-profile online communities for Internet professionals and technology enthusiasts. Its porfolio includes hosted services online community Web Hosting Talk, pay-per-click ad network HostingCatalog, and many other specialty hosted services directories.

In April 2007, iNET acquired two online directories -- Cheap Hosting Directory and Website Host Directory -- from TechPad Agency.

HostingCon was founded by Interjucture CEO George Roberts, and Interjucture COO Frank Spaulding, who will both remain involved in HostingCon as members of its advisory board.

"Although Frank and I will remain involved as advisors, we are very excited to hand over the reins to iNET Interactive," says George Roberts. "We have complete confidence that iNET Interactive will continue to grow and develop HostingCon with the same passion and commitment that Frank and I have applied."

On Tuesday afternoon, we posted an interview with iNET CEO and president Troy Augustine, where he discussed the details behind the acquisition.
