(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Automation and virtualization technology maker Parallels (www.parallels.com) announced on Monday that hosting provider The Planet (www.theplanet.com) would be offering its hosting channel partners a bundled offering that includes the Parallels Plesk Planel and Parallels Plesk Billing software.
The hosting company is also offering a promotion starting Monday that offers Parallels Plesk Panel with 100 domains and The Planet’s Alpha server monitoring free for one month on any dedicated server package.
Along with offering some more complex managed hosting services, The Planet is a popular provider among hosting resellers who appreciate some of the company’s more affordable bare-bones type server offerings. Among its more notable resellers is the large and fast-growing hosting company HostGator (www.hostgator.com).
The new package is described in detail on a page in the “server specials” section of The Planet’s website.
“The Planet and Parallels are committed to helping resellers increase hosting revenues,” says Urvish Vashi, general manager of The Planet’s dedicated servers line of business, quoted in the announcement issued by Parallels. “Few companies are in a position to offer a promotion of this significance. Combining the power of Parallels Panel and Parallels Billing, with The Planet’s enterprise-quality data centers and network, ensures our reseller channel has access to the most competitive and the best technology available today.”
The features recommending the Parallels Plesk Panel include the access to the hundreds of applications designed using the Application Packaging Standard, a Parallels-initiated effort that makes it possible for applications to be seamlessly plugged into the company’s hosting control panel.
Last week, Parallels released some of the details for its upcoming European partner roadshow – a series of European events designed to bring the company together with some of its key partners in the region.

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. The balloting process was our first experiment with a kind of user participation we're planning to do a lot more with in the months to come. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project.

July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer.

May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.
